Next spring, Museum Van Loon, will present an exhibition about the Dutch Pastel portrait. In the eighteenth century, foreign artists as Jean-Étienne Liotard and Jean-Baptiste Perroneau introduced the pastel portrait in the Netherlands. In the nineteenth century, painters as Charles Howard Hodges, Heinrich Siebert and Thérèse Schwartze perfectioned and popularized this technique in the Netherlands. Works commissioned by the nobility, politicians, bankers and even the Royal Family will be on view in Museum Van Loon in 2018.
